It is always lovely when someone you admire and respect receives the acknowledgement you know they deserve. Gabriel Byrne has done so much for the Irish film industry and for Ireland itself, as its Cultural Ambassador, it now seems inevitable that he be recognized. Not to mention that he is a damn fine actor! His career spans almost forty years and, with over 75 films to his credit, he seems to be speeding up and busier than ever.

So, it’s a good thing to take time out and enjoy the accolades of one’s peers. To be able to do so at home in Dublin is an added boon. Congratulations, Gabriel!

Will the awards ceremony, scheduled for February 15, be televised so that Byrneholics the world over can see this wonderful event? No news on that yet, but stay tuned! It very well may be. Here’s a link to the RTÉ US Player.
