According to Deadline and multiple other news outlets, Amy Ryan has joined the cast for Season Three of In Treatment.

Amy Ryan is set to co-star opposite Gabriel Byrne on the upcoming third season of the HBO drama In Treatment. The series, based on an Israeli format, centers on Dr. Paul Weston (Byrne), a psychotherapist, and his weekly sessions with patients. Ryan will play Paul’s new therapist.

Ms. Ryan’s credits include an Oscar-nominated performance in Gone Baby Gone, as well as a starring role in HBO’s The Wire and a pivotal spot in The Office (to which everyone hopes she will return). Her films include Dan in Real Life (with John Mahoney and Dianne Wiest!) and Capote. She most recently appeared in The Green Zone with Matt Damon and Brendan Gleeson.

Casting call information leaked at IMDB on the Boards hints at new problems for Dr. Weston, who will seek help from his replacement therapist for a physical ailment that seems seated in his psychic wounds from childhood. So, this should get very interesting indeed!

We now have (we think) the entire cast set, so production should start as planned in June. And of course we cannot wait to see this new season. Yay!

  1. Thanks for this very interesting news.
Amy Ryan must be a great actress to work with for Gabriel.
I am really looking forward to IT3.
I hope Gabriel will not be exhausted with the work of IT3,
but that he will have time to rest too.

  2. I was missing Ms. Weist already, but Amy Ryan is a great actress – so I am consoled! Looking forward to the new season!
