In addition to attending the Global Irish Economic Forum in Dublin, Cultural Ambassador Byrne is also helping to launch the new gateway on the web for the Irish global community: WorldIrish.com. [As of September 8, 2016 this website is no longer available]
Some have commented that this new web resource is really an Irish Facebook, but take a look. There is an emphasis on the sharing of stories that makes it unique, in my opinion. At any rate, it is a beginning!
Here is the video of the official launch today. Mr. Byrne (with scarf!) begins his comments at minute 1:57.
Thanks for sharing this exciting news.
Sounds like a great idea. Wonder if it will be open for persons that are not Irish, but that are still interested in Ireland and its future.
It’s an important moment for all Irish people this kind of initiative, because is a try to recover of Irish integrity, mainly after the financial and social crisis. I think it’s a good way to show to the rest of the world that Irish people is courageous and brave, and they have a strong tradition which can teach for other cultures either.
I saw some discrimination in London concerning to Irish people, just like jokes and critical of way to Irish talk. I think that isn’t more time for this type of thing. I was disappointed in know that Londoners and other peoples think in this way about Irish yet.
I added myself in this community and I hope that I do many several contacts there.
I liked to have seen Mr Byrne talking about the initiative and his presence at the event, which gives prominence to the subject.
How WONDERFUL. As an Irish/American I am very proud of my roots and this brings the old and new together for a future with no end in sight. Well done Ireland.
Just Joined WorldIrish LLOOVVEE IT.
Mr. B looks very good. He looks like he was feeling very well and very up beat about the whole thing. Don’t you agree?
