The Irish Film and Television Network reports that the Irish documentary John Ford: Dreaming The Quiet Man, which screened at the Imagine Ireland film festival at MOMA in New York a few months back, is back in the limelight at the American Film Institute European Union Film Showcase, which began today:
It’s a big thrill, that fact that it was chosen is a great recognition. It’s been gathering momentum”said Director Sé Merry Doyle, “The plan is that its going to get a general release in Ireland, and a limited release in the UK to coincide with the 60th anniversary of the making of ‘The Quiet Man’. It’s been building up a bit of a reputation with each festival.
Narrated by Gabriel Byrne, the film looks at the filming of the classic ‘The Quiet Man’. Maureen O’ Hara gives a powerful insight into the director John Ford and her co-star John Wayne, describing the film as “love letter to Ireland”.
The film is showing Friday and Saturday, November 4-5, and Wednesday, November 9 at the AFI Silver Theatre and Cultural Center in Silver Springs, Maryland USA .
Lastly, for your viewing enjoyment, here is the trailer:
Will come back and watch when I’m less tired.
It most certainly is A Love Affair. IRELAND
Thanks for sharing this.
The trailer makes me wish very much to see the documentary. So I hope it will come to Norway or on a DVD as soon as possible.
