  1. It sounds like it will be a wonderful evening with Irish Christmas celebration. Now we should have had some vacation left, and then we just needed Byrneholic Airlines, from Europe and the rest of the world and directly to New York for this “one night only”, as the advertisement says!

  2. Since we can’t all be in NYC, I hope everyone gets out to a concert or two during the holidays.

  3. Good idea Angelle.
I love concerts. We had a concert with Handel’s Messiah in our church recently. It was so nice to be in the choir and to sing for a full church with so many people. And Thursday this week some of us will go to a home for old people that cannot get outside the house, and we will sing Christmas songs for them.

    • Nora, I didn’t know you sang in a choir. We have a n annual event where everyone can just show up and sing the Messiah along with a local choir just to experience the sheer power of this music. I admire you for bringing music to shut-ins. Music brings healing and hope.

We always have Gabriel Byrne on You tube telling a Christmas story for us.

For us that can’t go to New York now.

  6. “Actor Gabriel Byrne, a long-time supporter of the center and a former cultural ambassador for his native Ireland, sat for some questions before sharing some of his work in progress on his memoirs in readings that gave us a greater insight to the artist who gives as much as he gets from his craft.” Irish Central review of the December 15 benefit for Irish Arts Center in NYC

  7. Thanks for sharing this Angelle.

I am so glad to know that Gabriel is really working on a new book. He can really write and he is great at telling stories. I hope it will take not too long time before the book will be finished and can be published.

    • Yes indeed, Nora, Gabriel is a gifted writer and it is fitting that he chose this benefit concert for the NYC Irish Arts Centre to read from his work in progress.
BTW Just listened to a wonderful and insightful hour-long tribute to Seamus Heaney on the CBC (Canada’s public radio) while we decorated our Christmas tree. Thank you CBC- Sunday Edition. Hope everyone at Byrneholics stays warm and cozy during the holidays.

      Peace,
