Louder Than Bombs continues to make noise in the film world, racking up a total of four awards at the close of the Norwegian International Film Festival in Haugesund, Norway last night!

From the press release provided by the Norwegian International Film Festival:

Louder than Bombs became the evening’s most-winning film with four awards, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Cinematography and Best Editing.

These awards are called the Amandas. Let’s add some names, shall we?

Best Cinematography: Jakob Ihre – Louder Than Bombs

Best Screenplay: Eskil Vogt and Joachim Trier – Louder Than Bombs

Best Editing: Olivier Bugge Coutté – Louder Than Bombs

and last but not least

Best Director: Joachim Trier – Louder Than Bombs

Variety reports:

Norwegian director Joachim Trier’s “Louder than Bombs,” which in 2015 was Norway’s first Cannes Competition entry in 36 years, won four Norwegian national film prizes, dubbed the Amandas,  Aug. 26 on the closing night of the 44th Norwegian International Film Festival in Haugesund, Norway.

Trier’s third feature, and first English-language pic, starred an international cast: Gabriel Byrne, Isabelle Huppert, Jesse Eisenberg, and Devin Druid. It won director, original screenplay (Eskil Vogt, Trier), cinematography (Jakob Ihre) and editing (Olivier Bugge Coutté) prizes. Next month the writer-dirctor will start principal photography for “Thelma,” a supernatural thriller, also co-scripted by Vogt and produced by Thomas Robsahm for Motlys.

Montages reports on the awards, too. The article is in Norwegian.

The trailer will be a good reminder of the artistic achievement of these inspired film makers:

Congratulations to all of the winners!

  1. Thank you Stella for this wonderful news. Congratulations to Joachim Trier and the other award winners, as well as the cast and crew of this stunning and unique film. I was fortunate to have seen this at a film festival in February, and it has stayed with me.

BTW, I did a search for the title and the film was screened at last year’ Norwegian International Film Festival and that is why you could not find it in the 2016 program.
