The first (brief) trailer for Gabriel Byrne’s new television series is out now in anticipation of its release in Europe later this month.
The timing seems perfect: October is, after all, the spookiest month of the year and I, for one, look forward to a scary movie with Gabriel that does not involve dysfunctional family dynamics and people spontaneously combusting! wink
Although, who knows? This new series could be just as frightening as Hereditary. Probably not, but there IS a definite sense of existential dread in this trailer!

Canal + has just announced the release date of its international series “The War of the Worlds” adapted from the eponymous novel by H.G. Wells with Lea Drucker, Gabriel Byrne and Elizabeth McGovern.
From Monday, October 28 at 21h, Canal + will launch War of the Worlds, its new original series to international production in 8 episodes. Adapted from HG Wells’ famous novel of the same name, which has already produced a series in 1988 and two films in 1953 and 2005, it will be the first science fiction series for the encrypted channel. For this series, the cast is made up of Léa Drucker (Until the Guard), Gabriel Byrne (Usual Suspects) and Elizabeth McGovern (Downton Abbey).
This version of War of the Worlds follows a handful of humans who will try to survive in a world destroyed by an alien invasion, some time after astronomers have detected a transmission from another galaxy. They will try to discover the mysteries hidden behind this invasion, which will upset their lives forever. But what is left when we have lost everything?
The European premiere of this new 8-episode series took place September 30 in Paris at Cinéma Gaumont Champs-Élysées, with much of the cast and creative crew attending.
So, stay tuned for more news as release information for the series becomes available. And stock up on your popcorn! This one looks like a winner! heart
