Updated December 4

According to Bayne at the Irish Arts Center, the virtual gala will be available to watch for about 48 hours after the livestream!

So those of you who live in distant lands have viewing options now.

Be sure to make a donation, small or large, and get your ticket to the Gala! It’s going to be a very special evening and the cause is dear to Gabriel’s heart. heart

November 30

Have you ever attended the annual Spirit of Ireland Gala in New York City, the fundraiser that supports the Irish Arts Center and its projects?

No? I haven’t either. But we all can this year!

Mark your calendars for Thursday, December 10, at 7:00 PM US Eastern Time!

From the Irish Arts Center:

An extraordinary event for extraordinary times: the Irish Arts Center Spirit of Ireland Gala is virtual this year and open to everyone.

We invite you to performances by Sting, Elvis Costello, Loah, Camille O’Sullivan, Declan O’Rourke, Joanie Madden & Cherish the Ladies, Arturo O’Farrill Quartet and more, plus appearances by Liam Neeson, Gabriel Byrne, Roma Downey, Colum McCann, Paul Muldoon and other special guests, as we celebrate the imminent completion of our new building—just weeks from now—and look ahead to a more hopeful horizon in 2021.

Make a donation to register for the event and receive your link!

All donations are welcome, of course, especially as the final days of the building project are here, but a mere $5.00 gets you a ticket to this Virtual Gala, so go on! Let’s all CELEBRATE! heart

We hope to see you there!

Please note: all images for this posting were stolen, um I mean borrowed, from the Irish Arts Center website. They do a lovely job keeping everyone informed and connected during this time of the pandemic, and indeed all year every year, so kudos to them!

  1. Sounds like a very interesting evening. I would love to see this but the time difference is 6 hours. New York is 6 hours later than Oslo.

  2. Thank you Stella.
    Very kind of you!

    • Nora, I’ve updated the posting to include the very good news that the event will be available for viewing afterwards for 2 days. So that’s good news! <3

  3. Sounds good. I’ve always wished I could go. Thanks Stella!

  4. As it is for the fundraising, I’m sure they will love you for borrowing, Stella. Every one of us that donates and registers will be helping this cause. Bigger donations qualify for more of the donor benefits-I wonder what those include? You’d have to call for the specific details. I’m planning to join in if I can get online in time!! So looking forward to it. A $5 donation, or more if you can, gets you in. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! -Terri in Texas

    • Terri, those donor benefits have been around for a long time. There may be some new ones, though, so it’s worth checking out! Thanks for the birthday wishes. <3

  5. I’m liking the zoom donor benefits, looks lovely for those who can. And they have an auction started now with some cool things to bid for…exciting. I’m glad to see the update on the viewing afterwards for 2 days…I was racing to barely get to my bus today, the nobody showed up nightmare just happened…then at the last minute one showed up so I could go. But it happened today so maybe time will be kind and let lots of us see this gala sooner and later as need be. Thank you Covid for giving me a virtual gala to look forward to. (But no thanks, covid, for the other stuff…)

I am so sorry. My PC was not working and I only saw this message today, December 9. I don’t know if I am able to see this in Argentina. There is a 5 or 6 hour time zone difference with the US. Yet I have a great emotion for this wonderful moment, that we had with his book … and I wish him the best success in this GALA. Thanks for this special event. ALL MY FEELINGS FOR ALL YOU.
