Gabriel Byrne’s latest film, Death of a Ladies’ Man, is screening and streaming (!) at the Calgary Film Festival NOW as part of the festival’s Official Selection, so all you lucky Canadians (in specific provinces) should click that link and take a look!
At the Edmonton International Film Festival, this new film is showing in theaters only (boo!):

However, Edmonton provides this lovely new promo, so we forgive them for not making this new film, for which we have been patiently waiting, available to the entire world. This is enough to make us move to Canada, yes?
From the Edmonton festival website:
Drama. From the Producers of BROOKLYN, ONCE and CHICAGO, a dramedy about life and love featuring songs by Leonard Cohen. Samuel O’Shea (Gabriel Byrne), a university professor of poetry, exuberant womanizer and enthusiastic drinker, has seen better days. His second marriage is ending, and his wife and children are at their wits’ end with him. More disturbingly, he has begun seeing things: Frankenstein sidles up to the bar and strangers sing and dance to Leonard Cohen tunes. His much missed father, who died when Samuel was just a boy, pops in for chats. At first, Samuel thinks it could be the drink, or perhaps he’s just crazy or over-imaginative, but then learns he has a brain tumour. Reflecting on the life he has lived, Samuel retreats to his family shack in remote Ireland, where he begins work on that great novel he always meant to write, and generally tke stock. Surprisingly, or not, he meets and falls in love with a local woman, who is full of unexpected ideas. All this leads Samuel to an utterly unforeseeable ending.
Please note! Corey Marr, one of the producers of Gabriel’s new film, reports that more film festivals are on the way, so be prepared for further tantalizing reports about Death of a Ladies’ Man. We will ALL see it one day.
Edmonton created innovative and eye-catching posters for their festival this year. Take a look!
Once an official poster and a trailer are available for Death of a Ladies’ Man, you will see them here.

This is probably a great movie that I will love to see.
Sounds perfect for Gabriel Byrne and his personality and acting skills! ❤❤❤
I envy the Canadiens that get the chance to see this film before me.
I am so glad when Gabriel acts in these kind of movies.
