What?!?! It’s August? How did that happen?

Well, time flies when you’re moving house, it seems. And if it’s August, then Gabriel Byrne is back trodding the boards with his spectacular one-man play, Walking With Ghosts. The Wexford National Opera House played host to four sold-out performances which ran August 11 – 13. The house was packed, the response enthusiastic and heart-felt, and our favorite Irishman looks to be in fine fettle, sporting a new (to us!) blue ring to match his trademark blue eyes. What? Was I swooning? Sorry.

Landmark Productions does such a great job promoting Gabriel’s play:

Will he be doing anymore shows ?

  2. Dear Stella and all Byrneholics!
I will be attending Opening Night of WALKING WITH GHOSTS in London on 9/6/2022. My month long tour of Great Britain starts that very day; I am one lucky girl!
I will take photos of theater, etc., and one of the man himself if possible. I saw the play on the internet, but this is LIVE!

    • Fantastic news, Mary! I hope you have a wonderful tour of the “precious stone set in the silver sea.” What a spectacular way to start it off! Share all the pics you can with us, ok? And give him our best.

If my former host parents went, I’d be very envious. xD

  4. Stella- please help me, I am not sure of your reference to the precious stone.
Could you help me? Thank you, Mary

    • Sorry! That’s John of Gaunt’s speech from Shakespeare’s play, Richard II:

” This royal throne of kings, this sceptered isle,
This earth of majesty, this seat of Mars,
      This other Eden, demi-paradise,
This fortress built by Nature for herself
Against infection and the hand of war,
This happy breed of men, this little world,
This precious stone set in the silver sea,
Which serves it in the office of a wall
Or as a moat defensive to a house,
Against the envy of less happier lands,
–This blessed plot, this earth, this realm, this England.”

  5. Dear Stella: SORRY FOR THE DELAY IN MY ANSWERS! Welcome to my new PC. I am here again thanking you for keeping me in mind. It is always beautiful to read your book again, Gabriel. It is very deep and I liked your question: What is the bravest thing you have said? It is very difficult for someone to ask for help–that is a reality. And that success in our values is Love. Your success in Walking with Ghosts is wonderful! All around the world. I wish you the best for all your presentations. You are always active and creative, tireless in your career, always giving more. I wish you the best in your new home. Thank you for being close to those of us who are so far away. I hope I can see Death of a Ladies’ Man. And I admire your phrase: I have always considered failure as a life lesson, more than success . . . Stella, I too would faint with that photo.THANK YOU AGAIN FOR BEING. I WISH YOU ALL THE SUCCESS!

    • Dora, it’s always lovely to see a comment from you, because I know how much Gabriel means to you and because your words are eloquent and so heart-felt! Thank you for visiting here and for sharing your thoughts and feelings. <3
